The Promised Land IV
As was true of Moses, Abraham also was not your typical religious leader. He once encountered a man, king of Sodom, who sought to purchase the souls of the people he was leading. He wanted Abraham to avoid telling them about God and God’s plans for them, and in exchange, he promised to make Abraham very wealthy.
Abraham vehemently rejected the man’s offer, and made certain that this man could never ever say that he had made Abraham wealthy. Abraham knew that knowing God, and teaching God’s people the truth about God, was his sole, incontrovertible mission.
