If a van arrives in your neighborhood or community and its occupants offer you a free medical examination, you have two choices. You can graciously decline the medical care, or you can accept it. If you choose to accept it, you again have two choices. You can allow them to do anything and everything they wish to do to examine you and to treat you, if necessary, or you can demand to have full and complete disclosure at every step of the medical examination. Full and complete disclosure is necessary to enable you to make fully informed decisions as to which medical procedures you will accept and which you will reject. In today's world, maintaining an ability to reject unnecessary medical intervention is the only means by which you can protect yourself and your family. As a safety precaution, if you are in good or excellent health, it may be advisable to avoid roving medical vans, and to decline offers of free or low cost medical examinations.
