Longings

The longings that one experiences are most prevalent during the holiday season when family and friends are at the forefront of one's mind. It is a time when you are looking for the perfect gift, the perfect vacation spot, or the perfect place to celebrate.

​It may seem odd that a God of heaven would have similar longings. The truth is that they do. They have the same desire to be in relationship, to become one with someone. They too need to have their head and neck caressed, or to be in a place of intimacy. They too need to love and be loved.

When we deny the humanity of our God and we assume that for him, loneliness is acceptable, we cannot help but bring to ourselves the same fate. We must see him as we see ourselves--in need of family, in need of relationship, and in need of community.
