When you believe that God is not hearing you, nor listening to your perspective, there is a tendency to want to shake him into submission, and compel him to listen. The desire to shake God is common among those who believe that he is saying things that you would prefer not to hear. It also is a common desire among those who know that he is not going to budge from his position, or change his mind.
The desire to shake God can result in injury to the person who desires to do the shaking, in contrast to shaking a child, which can result in injury to the child. No one understands the devastation that is wrought on a person who is angry with God. He literally corrodes the connection between him and God, such that healing and restoration must take place before the relationship with God is renewed. The desire to shake God results from a misunderstanding of his motives and intentions. We assume that God is as sinful as the ordinary person. We ascribe to him motives that are selfish, inhumane, condemning, and hateful. We think that his thoughts are like our thoughts, and that most of his actions are embued with evil or punitive intent. When the Scriptures state that God is love, it means that his very essence is that of love. Every motivation of his heart is love. Every intent is laced with love, and only love. Whenever he does something that affects you negatively, your only assumption should be that he acted from the overflow of his love. Regardless of how you feel toward God, you should know that his only response will be that of love. His only motivation will forever be his love for you. His only calling is to lead you back to Eden. His only intent is to keep you out of the devil's clutches. And his hope is that you will trust in his deep love for you. The Lord God Almighty El Shaddai
