She called me and said that a lawsuit was pending against the company. I didn't even know that I had been sued, and since they never served me with the summons, I suspect they were aiming to get a default judgment against us. I was shocked to learn that I had been sued, but knew that it was God who sent her to our aid. In the two years after she began to represent us, God showed me all the things that they had planned so as to hasten our demise, including, yes, incarceration. I was not perfect, perhaps a little cavalier, but definitely not the "crook" they sought to lure.
When they saw that she was well-informed and I, her client, was prepared to fight, they changed their tune and claimed that it was they who should our cause defend. They wanted a retainer, and told me that my choice was either have them as my lawyer or go to jail. So I took them as my lawyer, and prayed each night that she would know the choice I had to make. I knew their true intention was to strip the company bare and steal its assets, but what was I to do, a foreign national, a showboat by their definition, and smart enough to know their true intent. I watched them strip the company bare and steal its precious assets, so that they would be the reaper of the treasure. And when they'd had their fill, they tossed it back to me and claimed we needed bankruptcy. So bankruptcy became our newfound fiend, for there again, we bristled as they sucked the marrow from our bones, and left us for the dogs to rend their teeth. But God was our protector through it all, and left us with a seed with which to plant a brand new crop. God was our defender, and even when we failed to heed his word, God left us a seed that would restore what we had lost. God left us a seed so we would know that he still cared, a seed that would forever say, "Your future is with me," a seed that knows no garden but the one through heaven's gate. A seed that even envying eyes would never ever give a second glance, a seed that when the gates of hell have closed the devil in, will yet be bearing fruit, a seed that all eternity will see, and thus proclaim that the Lord God Almighty, he still reigns.
